About konasquared

I am many things. I am a software developer. I develop many different kinds of software, but mainly games and backends for websites. For my games, I also create music and 3D models. So I'm also a 3D artist and music producer, I guess. I also write many things, like the stories for my games, and the blog posts on this website. So I'm a writer too.

I strongly take to the saying, "jack of all trades, master of none". That's what describes me best. I don't think I'm the best at anything. I'm fairly good at a lot of things, but I don't believe I've mastered anything. Oftentimes, though, it's better than being a master of one.

I've just mentioned I make games, too. I think this is my favorite thing to do as a hobby. Games are art forms, too, and my favorite kind, because they're so incredibly deep. They are a collection of many art forms in one: visual art and design, storytelling, music, and it's all interactive and immersive too. Wouldn't you agree?

At the end of the day, I'm just konasquared. Another person writing about themself on the internet. That's who I am. I'm just glad you're here to see it.

What's your website about?

I think ever since I got a computer with access to the internet I wanted to make a website. Websites, though, are pretty annoying to make, especially when you're 8 and you don't know what a "html" is and think CSS stands for Counter-Strike: Source. Eventually, I learned more programming skills, and had some unfruitful attempts, but then eventually I kept trying and... gave up.

Yeah. Making websites is hard. But now I'm older, wiser, and actually understand CSS properly. No, that's a lie. CSS is straight trash, and we should all abandon it forever and ever. But whatever. Anyway, I was a lurker on Neocities for a while, and I really liked the idea of making my own website again. Especially now with things like large language models (for the layman, that's ChatGPT), libraries like TailwindCSS, it's never been easier, really. Not that I'm using Tailwind. No, I hate myself, so this website is pure HTML and CSS.

OK, back to the subject.

This website is mostly a personal blog, and a bit more. It's my portfolio, my place to make announcements on my projects (if they don't have Discord servers), and my home on the internet. I also usually have a lot on my mind, which I want to share with a larger collective, that's too long for places like Twitter (though I don't use it anymore - thanks Elon).

I've been a firm believer that the internet has been on a decline recently, and that's primarily because of the fact that it's been too heavily monopolized by Big Evil Corporations, like Meta, Twitter, Google, and others. The internet is completely open - it always has been. The internet protocol is completely available for anyone to see. Foundations like Mozilla and GNU are at the forefront of this, and I will always be grateful for them. I'd really love to contribute to their work one day, but I'm not so smart as the maintainers of those projects.

So, to celebrate the old spirit of the early World Wibe Web, I've set up my own website. I don't see why more people don't do so - it's pretty cute and I think it's so great that everyone on earth (with a web browser and an internet connection) can see and know who I am. A little joy in this big sad world.

Who's haunted?

haunted is the other contributor on this website and a long-standing friend. I let them run their own blog and shitpost here as well. Here's a little section by them:

hello, hi, my name is haunted. i'm an enjoyer of many things such as writing from time to time, making a mockery of music and consuming energy drinks. the thing i love most though is listening to music, which is why i'm part of the 0.05% of type o negative listeners. i also am the worst idea ever machine™️ for kona2. i take pictures sometimes and edit them to look bad, 'cause i looked at sematary album covers and thought they looked cool.

i obsess over games, a lot. if i really like something, such as hotline miami or whatever, more often than not, i 100% it even if it's the most agonising task i've done. currently fixated on POSTAL 2 and DMC4.

still figuring out myself and drifting through the life that i live and hoping for change, but i try to stay positive. i aspire to be as good as kona2 with computers someday.

even still, we are who we choose to be, and you chose to read this, so hii welcome to our blog, enjoy your stay.
